Catch a Ferrel Cat or twoOct 19, 2008
By Clark Isaacs
"Clark's Eye on Books by Clark Isaacs"
We had three Ferrel Cats roaming under our outdoor shed. We tried everything to get rid of them and then this Havahart Trap was discovered. It works excellently! We caught one of the cats one day and the next had two in the same trap! No problem and I would recommend this to anyone trying to catch small animals to take to the shelter. This is easy to handle and I carried it to the shelter. The man there just opened the door and out walked the cat to another cage for putting into a better cage.
While I was there at the shelter others came in carrying these traps as well. They really are great!

First two days, two feral cats caught-problem solvedMar 07, 2010

This trap is the best for catching cats. The open ended design allows the cat to see completely through and not be deterred by a regular one door trap. A wary cay will likely not enter a trap where it can see a closed end.

apparently mine were both...but we did get um eventually...the release could be a little more sensitive ours would go in eat and leave without triggering it...so we had to play with it a bit to make it trigger happy...

This Trap Works!Oct 27, 2009
By Picky I bought this trap years ago and have never failed to catch the critter I set it out for (I'm guessing around 8). Put the food bait on the pressure plate inside and set the trap door at the very edge of the catch so that any pressure on the pressure plate will set it off. Once the door trips closed, there is no way an animal will get out.
I bought one for my Mom when she had a raccoon in her attic. It worked for her too. I admit; I set it up for her, but this is the point -- it has to be set up correctly. When you first use it, test how you set it up by pushing on the pressure plate with a rod. You will learn how to place the catch so that it goes off consistently. By the way, my brother-in-law has one. He lives in a rural area and he has caught many more animals than I have, including his own cat.
I can't believe anyone could give this trap a negative review. I wouldn't have bothered to post this but I have to set the record straight.

20 year old model is much betterAug 29, 2008
By Trapper from Burlington MA I gave my old trap (20+ years) to one of my Sons and it is still working fine. However this new model was a mistake to buy. It arrived not fully assembled, and was awkward to figure out how fix it according to the instructions. Finally got it working, but the two-door operation is not at all practical, and does not function reliably. Stricktly a one door gadget. Finally Opening the door for release/removal of the animal (especially a skunk), is nowhere as easy as their old design. The old trap was easy to set up and use, and also safe/easy to remove/release animals as needed... Why can't these young engineers recognize and leave a good thing alone!!!
